Tabitha's Tea Time Bridal Shower

My daughter Tabitha Emma had her bridal shower  this Saturday.
Her lovely Bridesmaids Aleatta and Kim organised this delightful event.
If you would like a similar event organised contact Aleatta at Tea party for Alice
It was an Alice in Wonderland themed high tea.
The park setting was magical under a huge tree decorated with lanterns.
I particularly love the colourful vintage  chairs and mis matched teacup sets.
You can see the full set of photos on Tabitha Emma's  wedding blog.

Anzac Biscuits

Today is Anzac day in Australia. A time to reflect on the horror of war...
A time to spend learning lessons from the past.
I made Anzac biscuits this morning a lovely treat for us.
However they had a more serious purpose during the war.
Apparently these type of biscuits were made by Australian women for the soldiers serving
their country overseas. A highly nutritious biscuit that kept well.
They were based on  a Scottish recipe using rolled oats which were used mainly for a heavy
porridge to help during the very cold winters.
There are many versions of the recipe, easily found, simple to make and delicious to eat.

My very first book of collage illustrations is published!

I was so thrilled when I opened my mailbox yesterday to find a sample copy
of my very first ever published book of my collage illustrations.
I started licensing my designs to Korsch Verlag in Germany just last year. They have been wonderful
to work with and we have produced together a calendar for 2013, many journals and
notebooks and this lovely little gift book.
The book is an illustrated gift book of romantic verse, in German,
it would make a very beautiful wedding gift.
I have taken some pictures below of some of the inside pages and the front cover.

French Provincial a work in progress...

With many distractions including torrential rain and wedding preparations,  the painting and
transformation of our house to French Provincial colours progresses.
Slowly the pink and blue are replaced and the house begins
to look just the way we imagined it should.

Painting the House Grey

Our lovely Victorian terrace was in much need of love and care when we purchased it.
Slowly work is being done and her beautiful features are being restored.
This weekend we, my husband!, began the enormous task of painting the front of the house.
Ladders and heights terrify me, if I do any painting it will be ground level!
When we bought the house the colour was somewhat vibrant
and a house not easily overlooked being pink and aqua blue!
Our colour choice is a little more subdued and elegant, in French greys.
Although hard to see with the bright sunlight reflecting on the walls,
we think the transformation is wonderful.
Much work still needs to be done with many repairs along the way
but here are some of our progress pictures.

A Vintage Tea Party

My Petite Brocante find for this week, a wonderfully tarnished silver teapot.
The teacups were a birthday gift.
Mrs Beeton's Dictionary of Everyday Gardening and the
Vintage Tea Party book make a lovely display.
