My first visit to Sydney's Capitol Theatre to see Love Never Dies.

We had a wonderful time, captivated not only by the spectacle of the performance but by

the inspiring Capitol Theatre itself.

I adore old buildings and to find such treasures always fills me with delight.

My twigs of blossom have kept beautifully all through Spring and so I thought they would make a wonderful twig Christmas tree decorated with golden pears and little beads.

This is a work in progress and I have a few more finishing touches yet to come....

A little glimpse of the kitchen mantel, I bought this amazing Fleur de Lis at a flea market stall
for just $5, it painted up beautifully to hang above the old brick fireplace.

.....at least for a little while, in what has been a very busy week

A few purchases that were made recently are now at home as decorative pieces.

I bought a beautiful length of vintage lace from Vintage Keepsakes on etsy.

It looks wonderful on the old Victorian fireplace mantel in my studio.

I found a pretty floral hair wreath in Sportsgirl in Sydney, a few ribbons and vintage lace

and I have a beautiful decoration for my bathroom.

When I am busy I tend to forget to eat so this morning I made an effort to start the day by making some Gluten free and sugar free Fig and Walnut scroll buns,

providing me with a healthy treat to eat during the day.

The recipe is my rather rustic throw together version of Latte Lisa's cinnamon buns.

Her recipes are delicious, I love the cinnamon buns but decided to try a different filling and added

chopped figs and walnuts. They taste good:)

The inspiration for the Olive topiary tree came from the very talented Ozma of Odds

Paris Couture Antiques

I am an avid collector of vintage and antique labels and my collection mostly includes
sewing and perfume ephemera.
Recently I have become fascinated by antique and vintage pharmacy labels and the
bottles and packages they are stored in.

This was inspired by a recent ABC television program featuring a recreation of a Victorian pharmacy, making and dispensing cures for the local community.

The elaborate formulas and packaging were truly amazing.

One of my favourite ways to relax was to spend time drawing with pencils,

especially using animals and birds as subject matter.

After recently moving I discovered in long unopened boxes some of my old illustrations.

After scanning one of the drawings I have digitally collaged it onto an old piece of parchment paper, bringing it back to life again as a print.

This week is set aside by many people in the world as a week to remember and spread awareness of the terrible and debilitating illness ME.

I am only too aware of it, living with the pain of it every day.

The Hummingbirds foundation for ME by Jodie Basset a couragous and fellow ME sufferer.

"Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a debilitating acquired neurological disease which has been recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 1969 as a distinct organic neurological disorder."

"M.E. is similar in a number of significant ways to Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus and poliomyelitis (polio). M.E. can be extremely severe and disabling and in some cases the disease is fatal."

"M.E. is a neurological illness of extraordinarily incapacitating dimensions that affects virtually every bodily system"

Symptoms of M.E. include:

Sore throat, chills, sweats, low body temperature, low grade fever, lymphadenopathy, muscle weakness (or paralysis), muscle pain, muscle twitches or spasms, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, cardiac arrhythmia, orthostatic tachycardia, orthostatic fainting or faintness, photophobia and other visual and neurological disturbances, hyperacusis, alcohol intolerance, gastrointestinal and digestive disturbances, allergies and sensitivities to many previously well-tolerated foods, drug sensitivities, stroke-like episodes, nystagmus, difficulty swallowing,, myoclonus, temporal lobe and other types of seizures, an inability to maintain consciousness for more than short periods at a time breathing difficulties, emotional lability and sleep disorders.
Cognitive dysfunction may be pronounced and may include; difficulty or an inability to speak (or understand speech), to read, write or to do basic mathematics; as well as problems with memory including; difficulty making new memories and recalling formed memories and difficulties with visual and verbal recall.

As a child I always loved to play with paper dolls.

I spent a happy Saturday afternoon designing and cutting out this pretty

Marie Bonheur paper doll or gift tag.

Not an easy task with my poor nerve damaged fingers and hands

and not a task to be repeated too often!

She is however a little indulgence and was fun to make.

Easter Egg Hunt

It has been an overwhelmingly busy time for our family and I had not given much thought to
Easter celebrations this year.

I finally got to plan a day to go shopping, organised my work, packed orders to post, dressed nicely, remember my cloth, environmentally friendly shopping bags, rush outside to where the car is parked
only to discover the car would not start...
... my dear had left the lights on all night and the battery was now very flat:(

Back indoors ring the motor service people, NRMA, brilliant service only took 10 minutes to arrive.

Bad news, the battery is OK but I will need to drive around for at least half an hour to recharge it, so a nice scenic route to the shops and a few detours later I arrive only to find no parking.

It is the school holidays and almost lunch time.
I spend more time recharging the battery and finally a car space.

....Into the shops looking for nice dark chocolate eggs, all gone:( only one left on the shelf and the wrapping looked as though someone had done a taste test......

All was not lost however, I did eventually find some lovely eggs at our local shop
a short walk from the house!

So the traditional Easter egg hunt could still take place to my children's delight

and even though they are in their early 20s they still act like big kids:)

Fine art Print from magalerie

It is time to slow my life a little too many things happening and a body that is too ill to keep up.

I love to create and make beautiful things but my health is deteriorating and constant pain is making it difficult to manage the amount of time and effort needed to create the unique handmade items.

Publishing work is a blessing but I have also decided to open a Zazzle shop and allow them to do the hard work while I enjoy the designing and creative part.

Dependence and trust in God is ever more important in daily life.

My creativity is a way of escaping much of my pain, to be creative is an incredible blessing from the most amazing awe inspiring creator and designer of the whole universe.

Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day, celebrated on February 14th.

The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs, St Valentine. It is traditionally a day when lovers express their love for each other with gifts of cards, flowers and chocolates.

I think that Valentines day should be kept as a day for lovers and not extended to family, friends.
The commercialization spoils the sweet and special nature of the day.

It ought to be as it traditionally was, a special celebration for those in love.
